Virginia Beach, a city renowned for its vibrant community and rich history, continues to showcase its global connections through a series of events that honor international ties and celebrate significant milestones.
Honoring the U.S. Navy SEALs
One of the standout events is “Valor: The Story of the U.S. Navy SEALs and Little Creek,” a 30-minute theatrical production that delves into the history of the Navy SEALs, their pivotal missions, and the establishment of their headquarters at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek in Virginia Beach. This production is scheduled to run from June 26 through August 16, 2026, with performances on Friday and Sunday nights at 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. at the Naval Aviation Monument at 25th Street Park. This event offers residents and visitors an opportunity to gain insight into the elite maritime force that has been integral to global military operations since its inception in 1962.
Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary
As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, Virginia Beach is set to play a significant role in the celebrations. One of the key events is Sail250® Virginia, where the city will serve as an affiliate harbor, welcoming a fleet of over 50 tall ships and historic vessels in June 2026. This event not only commemorates the nation’s milestone but also highlights Virginia Beach’s maritime heritage and its connection to international seafaring traditions.
These events underscore Virginia Beach’s commitment to honoring its global connections and providing residents with opportunities to engage with international history and culture right in their backyard.
